A cold muddy but dry outing, playing supercharged better ball rules:

At a cold West Derby  today the Sherlock’s tightened their grip on the Winter League.  The results were

Pete S beat Mike 4 & 3 – is the sleeping tiger waking up?
Frank S beat Ade 3 & 2 – after Frank did the outward 9 in 37, a truly awesome performance
Jason beat Paul K 2 & 1
Graham beat Paul S and Ray (47, 33 & 28)

A very cold day – but coffee and bacon rolls warmed us up for an event at one of our most popular courses – good greens despite the time of year.

Results

Nine of us teed up on a still day at Helsby, wet under foot and a ban on standard trolley wheels.

Pete Lyon laying in bed with his timing all out of kilter with short hours of day light the race was on.

Triumph and Tragedy followed; but Frank managed a superb net 59! surely the round of the year.

It was wet underfoot – but no rain and lots of fun

To see the full Ryder Cup table for the year, click here. The winner with an excellent performance over the year was Pete Sherlock. Adrian and Graham just faded away at the end.

The big game today was the Ryder Cup, played at Mossock Hall. Superb concentration today saw yet another victory for the Red team. The results looks flattering as 4 matches went to the last hole, but even the blue talisman (Frank Sherlock) couldn’t keep hold of a 3 hole lead, and lost 1 down. Blue captain Pete was the only victor for the blues as they lost 6-1. Full Results are;

Captain’s day winner Pete Lyons collapsed, resulting in calls for a drugs test on his sample from last week.

Pete Lyons had a great day, including some NTP’s to take a huge leap up the RC table. Graham and Adrian took advantage of Pete S not being in the medal round, but not as successful as they would have liked. The latest (full) RC table is here.

Pete wins Captain’s day again – this time Frank, the outgoing Captain arranged the event at Lymm and bright sunshine dominated the day.

But Pete won the main event with a stunning net 66, 5 shots ahead of his nearest competitor.
