The new master

There is a new master in town. Les broke his major duck and took the 2018 Masters with a masterful round of 69 at Formby Hall. He weaved through the water hazards and the sand traps whilst others paddled. Other notable rounds were from Paul Kelsey who has stormed to the top of the Ryder Cup table. See here for the RC table. Surely Frank Buckley would be at the top if he had played more rounds. It looks ominous for the European Tour stalwarts as new kids Ade and Frank look solid with only a month to go……….

High Legh 20th May 2018

In the run up to the masters.  It was hot and sunny at High Legh with excellent run on drives so the scoring should have been better.  Pete Sherlock took away the first prize of £17 with an excellent score of 39 points and John Shearn took the roll over nearest the pin prize of £10.

Aldersley Green – 22nd April 2018

We played at Aldersley Green today and the weather was largely fine though a bit disappointing after yesterday.  The course was still a bit soft and consequently the grass on the fairways was long.  There was some very low scoring, but as we were playing Stapleford that wasn’t a good thing!  Ade continued his strong start to the season by winning.  The results are attached as are the amended handicaps.
On the way around we had a committee meeting primarily to decide what we wanted to do with the bank account but we also agreed some changes to the competitions and handicaps.
  • We agreed to introduce a prize fund for each competition each player will be asked to pay £2 a competition, £1.50 of this will go to the winner of the competition and 50p to the winner of nearest the pin (this will roll over if there is no winner).
  • We agreed to reduce the amount that handicaps increase

2017-18 Winter Winner

Jason narrowly edged out Les to win the 2017-18 Winter League. With Pete Sherlock not playing this year due to injury, it was left to Frank to hold up the family honour. This was a clear tactical error after Frank failed in the last half of the season, and Pete is now working on training his sister to keep up the family honour for next year.

See here for full table.

Winter League Update

We completed the 4th round of the Winter League this morning with some excellent golf played as the weather improved.
The results were
Les beat Pete L 4 & 3
Frank B halved with Frank S
Graham beat Ray 4 & 3
Ade halved with Paul S
Jason beat Mike 2 & 1
So Jason maintains his 100% record and looks odds on to win the Winter league in March.

2017 Ryder Cup

The RED team lead by Jason have thrashed the BLUE team yet again.

On a seperate note here is 3 of a fourball in our society!
