First Game in 2014

The first game of 2014 was at Peover last Sunday. We decided on a nice easy team stableford and threw our balls in the air to decide the teams. The bookies would have had John, Jason and Frank as favourites and this is how it turned out after a good middle part of the round saw them score 75 points in total to win by 7 points. See HERE for the full results, and HERE for the RC table so far.

Reds Triumph in Ryder Cup

The Red side of the SMXIXHGS Golf society finally managed the regain the coveted Ryder Cup with a comprehensive 4:1 victory. The Reds got off to a great start with Frank Buckley thrashing the President 7 and 6. The following two matches were nip and tuck up to the tenth when the John Shearn and Jason Moss managed to string a few wins together against Andy Booth and Paul Morrissey to eventually both win their games 4 and 3. Whilst it was all over by this point, the final pairings of Graham Copsey vs Frank Sherlock and Peter Lyons vs Peter Sherlock had very close games, with all 4 playing golf much better than their handicaps. With the two reds managing to be 1 up on the 18th tee, the two proud blues won the 18th to halve both games. The full set of scores was;

Ade Levin lost to Frank Buckley 7/6
Andy Booth lost to John Shearn 4/3
Paul Morrissey lost to Jason Moss 4/3
Frank Sherlock halved with Graham Copsey
Peter Sherlock halved with Peter Lyons.

Final Result: Reds WIN 4-1.

The Masters 2013

The Masters was held for the first time in half a decade this year. After talking about playing at this course for many years now we finally had a game at Huyton and Prescot, and although the weather was a tad wet, it wasn’t enough to ruin the day. The winner of the main even this year was also the winner of the first even, many moons ago.

Due to the chance of inclement weather, we played the main event before the warm up 9 holer, which by the quality of some of the golf, showed that a bit of practice is very useful !!

The extra points on the day and Ade’s decision to come off during the main event due to a headache, and Pete Sherlock’s decision to come not play in the drizzle have meant a bit of a change at the top of the RC table. See HERE for details of the event and HERE for the RC table.

Premier league fixtures

Also added a page on the site with the latest fixtures on for both Liverpool and Everton to help selecting fixtures. Didn’t bother with the other teams as any supporter of Wigan or Man U would look for any excuse NOT to go and see them……..
