Is he back?

John cut it fine, and not only did he catch up the back group, but surged through the field to score a par round and win by a shot. Jason took a firmer grip on the Ryder Cup league and it looks like golfer of the year is between Ade, Jason and Pete. Oh, and Paul Kelsey got the NTP.

Close run thing at Northop

Northop had great weather this weekend and the golf was also very close, with lots of people playing to, or slightly better than their handicap. Frank took top spot with a great closing 17 holes, which does his Ryder Cup standing no harm at all. There are currently 6 players within one victory of top spot, and 3 players showing a consistent average score. It could be tight at the end, with Captain’s day being important with the double points.

The new master

There is a new master in town. Les broke his major duck and took the 2018 Masters with a masterful round of 69 at Formby Hall. He weaved through the water hazards and the sand traps whilst others paddled. Other notable rounds were from Paul Kelsey who has stormed to the top of the Ryder Cup table. See here for the RC table. Surely Frank Buckley would be at the top if he had played more rounds. It looks ominous for the European Tour stalwarts as new kids Ade and Frank look solid with only a month to go……….

2017-18 Winter Winner

Jason narrowly edged out Les to win the 2017-18 Winter League. With Pete Sherlock not playing this year due to injury, it was left to Frank to hold up the family honour. This was a clear tactical error after Frank failed in the last half of the season, and Pete is now working on training his sister to keep up the family honour for next year.

The New Master 2017

Ade finally breaks his major duck with a superb peformance and a birdie on the last to beat Pete Sherlock in a countback. Without that birdie, Pete would have been victorious again. Well done Ade, and a nice handicap cut, just in time for the Spanish tour.

For the full details of the day see here.

The Ryder Cup table sees Pete and Ade taking over the top two positions, but will anyone catch Pete? See here for full details.

Boom !!!

To see the full Ryder Cup table for the year, click here. The winner with an excellent performance over the year was Pete Sherlock. Adrian and Graham just faded away at the end.

The big game today was the Ryder Cup, played at Mossock Hall. Superb concentration today saw yet another victory for the Red team. The results looks flattering as 4 matches went to the last hole, but even the blue talisman (Frank Sherlock) couldn’t keep hold of a 3 hole lead, and lost 1 down. Blue captain Pete was the only victor for the blues as they lost 6-1. Full Results are;

Pete Lyons beat Frank Buckley 6/4

Graham Copsey best Paul Morrissey 1 up

Jason Moss beat Frank Sherlock 1 up

Ian Crook lost to Pete Sherlock 4/2

John Shearn best Les Holmes 6/4

Andy Macleod beat Adrian Levin 1 up

Mike Adamson beat Vic Webster 1 up

All the latest after a super Captain’s Day

Pete Lyons had a great day, including some NTP’s to take a huge leap up the RC table. Graham and Adrian took advantage of Pete S not being in the medal round, but not as successful as they would have liked. The latest (full) RC table is here.

Captain’s Medal round is here

Captain’s Texas round is here

and not forgetting Aldersey Green from a week earlier here…….

The greats are still fighting

Whilst Pete banged out a par round and had a NTP, Graham and Ade cruised past his score and stole the NTP as well. You can tell when the school holidays have started !! A good Captain’s Day for Ade or Graham could see them steal the RC crown at the last minute, and in their prime, this is a great chance for a major title….. For RC table, see here.
